Control developer Remedy names former EA exec as new CEO
Former EA executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon has been named CEO of Remedy Entertainment.
The Alan Wake and Control developer shared the news in a brief note to investors and explained Gaudechon will step into the role on March 1, 2026. Interim CEO and co-founder Markus Mäki will continue overseeing operations until Gaudechon begins his tenure.
Remedy has been searching for a new permanent CEO since Tero Virtala departed the studio after almost a decade in October 2025. Virtala’s exit came with FBC: Firebreak, the Finnish studio’s first self-published title, struggling to make a significant impact after four months on shelves.
Gaudechon spent over 15 years at EA across two stints at the U.S. publisher, where he assumed profit and loss responsibility for the group’s operations in Asia and prior to that served as studio head and executive producer at EA’s free-to-play studio in Stockholm. During his time at EA, Gaudechon helped steer live-service operations for titles such as FIFA Mobile and Battlefield Heroes.
The veteran exec also previously served as general manager and executive producer at CCP Games’ studio in Shanghai, China.
Discussing his new role, Gaudechon said he intends to help Remedy scale in a way that “builds lasting value.”
“Remedy has the voice and the ambition to be a pillar of the industry’s future. We will stay close to players, earn their time and trust, and strengthen our independence in how we build and publish our games, while continuing to work closely with the partners who have supported us along the way,” he added.
“I will be moving to Finland with my family and I’m incredibly excited about getting to work directly with the team at the studio.”
