Crispin Glover Is Being Sued for Battery and Fraud

Crispin Glover has been accused of battery and fraud by a woman who claims the actor “lured” her to Los Angeles under the pretense of work, only to use her for “sex and free labor.” In a lawsuit filed on Wednesday and reviewed by The Cut, a Jane Doe accused Glover of battery, fraud, malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress, wrongful eviction, and violating California’s civil rights law, the Bane Act. Glover has denied any wrongdoing.

Doe, a 30-year-old model, alleged that she was “essentially held captive” by Glover, a character actor known for his roles in Back to the Future and Charlie’s Angels, after he convinced her to leave her home in the U.K. and move to Los Angeles to work as his assistant. She claimed that she first made contact with Glover on social media in 2015 and exchanged messages with him for years. Per the suit, the woman met with Glover in Germany in 2023, where she says he “showed off several items of Nazi memorabilia from his collection.”

According to the complaint, Glover “groomed” Doe in 2023 with “promises of a new life” if she moved to Los Angeles. She claims she moved into Glover’s home in early 2024, at which point she says she “relied entirely on Mr. Glover’s promises for money and shelter.” Doe said that the actor “expected her to be his live-in girlfriend and work for him for free” and would “track her whereabouts and attempt to control where she went and who she interacted with.”

In March 2024, Doe, who is Muslim, claims she told Glover she was going to mosque. He allegedly told her that if she left, she would be locked out upon her return, a threat she says he followed through on. When she attempted to get back into the house to retrieve her cats and her belongings, she says Glover “attacked” her by “grabbing her neck and choking her in a headlock,” which left a “visible wound and scar on her neck.” Glover then allegedly called the police and accused Doe of intruding. Later, the actor filed what Doe calls a “malicious and fraudulent petition for a restraining order” against her, which was ultimately dismissed for failure to prosecute.

In a statement to TMZ, a representative for Glover said that the actor “denies these baseless allegations in the strongest possible terms.” According to his rep, it was actually Glover who was the “victim of an unprovoked felony assault” during the March 2024 incident. “Mr. Glover intends to vigorously defend himself and pursue all available relief,” the statement continues. “He is confident the judicial process will expose this lawsuit as a meritless fabrication.”

Doe is suing Glover for special and general damages, the exact amount of which would be determined at a jury trial.
