The Denver Broncos got by their first ‘trap game’ last week when they survived the winless New York Jets and now they have the feisty New York Giants team coming to down that seems to have gained some life with the quarterback change. There are many traps left over the next four weeks, so Denver needs to start playing at a high level and stop playing down to the competition in these types of games. Can they do it?

Collectively, our Mile High Report staff is predicting a Broncos 28-12 blowout win over the Jets. We are all predicting wins on Sunday, but disagree wildly on how Denver wins this game. Either way, all of us would take a 5-2 record after this week.

Here’s how each of us predicted things would go individually:

Denver seems to disappear offensively for long stretches of time and until they find any kind of consistency, I am unsure they will be able to win games decisively against what many would consider inferior opponents. However, I think if the Broncos’ defense can handle the Giants run game then they should be able to pull out a win provided the Broncos’ offense puts up a reasonable amount of points this week. – Tim Lynch

The Broncos are going to have to find a way to limit the impact of rookie QB-RB duo Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo. Forcing a few turnovers would be a nice way to accomplish that. Additionally, it’s high time the Broncos passing game finally hits their stride. The Giants’ secondary has been prone to giving up a lot of plays through the air this season. I don’t expect a blowout, but figure Denver will do enough earn their fifth win of the season. – Chris Hart

The Giants are flying high after their victory over the Eagles but will fall back to earth vs. the Broncos defense. Nik Bonitto will hit double digit sacks on the year, we’ll see 7+ sacks, and a few turnovers against this young and depleted Giants offense. Nix and the offense, led by the Broncos run game will play well and the Broncos will dominate their way to an upset victory at home. – Scotty Payne

A rookie QB should struggle with the defense that is leading the NFL in sacks. Jaxson Dart might be feeling good after beating the Eagles, but he should be less enthusiastic when he gets done facing the Denver Broncos. Sean Payton will be looking for an offensive bounce back game. Expect Bo Nix to look sharp at home. On a day honoring the late Demaryius Thomas, Courtland Sutton will shine. In celebration of the Super Bowl 50 alumni, the Broncos will cruise to a win. – Adam Malnati

The Broncos have just about everything going for them. Pretty much the only thing they have to figure out is who plays left guard, but if it’s Alex Palczewski then we have little to worry about. The Giants won’t be able to stop this pass rush. Jaxson Dart won’t be able to run like he has the last few games. The offensive line should be able to open up rushing lanes on a consistent basis and Bo Nix will deal against this pass defense. And let’s throw in the fact they’ll all be playing for Demaryius Thomas. I’d be worried if I was on New York. – Ross Allen

The Broncos offense is still figuring things out and tend to make mistakes by underestimating their opponents. The defense keeps them on the winning end of things. – Sadaraine

I predicted a big game from the offense last week and they produced 13 points. The Giants offense has been held to 6, 9 and 14 points in games this season against defenses that can’t hang with the Bronco D. – Joe Mahoney

The Broncos defense is already the best in the NFL and they, hopefully, are about to get a huge piece of the puzzle back in Dre Greenlaw. Middle linebacker has been a major issue this season on the defensive side of the ball so to get Greenlaw back is massive for this defense; especially going against a Giants offense that likes to run the ball with a rookie running back and quarterback. On offense, it’s time to execute and stop the drive-killing mistakes. Put a complete game together offensively on the ground, through the air, and play calling. On a day the Broncos celebrate DT and the Super Bowl 50 team, this version of the Broncos do their part. – Ian St. Clair
