Kentucky will be without not one, but two primary ball handlers to close out the exhibition schedule. We already knew Jaland Lowe was likely out, and now, it’s been confirmed that Denzel Aberdeen will also miss the Wildcats’ matchup vs. Georgetown on Thursday.
The Florida transfer missed practice on Wednesday for Media Family Day. Sources tell KSR that the absence is nothing serious and he’s being held out for precautionary reasons — a minor leg issue.
Sophomore guard Collin Chandler will start in Aberdeen’s place alongside Otega Oweh, Trent Noah, Mo Dioubate and Brandon Garrison.
Mark Pope has since confirmed the absence.
“He’s just nursing a little leg deal that I don’t think is going to be an issue, but we’ll keep him out as a precaution,” he said on his pregame show.
Aberdeen went for nine points on 3-9 shooting and 1-5 from three while adding three rebounds and three assists in a team-high 29 minutes in Kentucky’s win over No. 1 Purdue to open exhibition play.
