Does Tom Brady’s lack of Patriots Super Bowl support bother you?
Tell Us
After two decades and six Super Bowl wins with the Patriots, Brady says he doesn’t have a “dog in the fight in this one.” What’s your take on that?
Though he remains synonymous with the franchise, it doesn’t appear that Tom Brady is officially supporting the Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
Brady, now a minority owner of the Raiders and a Fox Sports announcer, gave a surprisingly neutral answer to the question of his Super Bowl rooting interest in a recent interview with Jim Gray on the “Let’s Go!” podcast.
“I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one,” Brady told Gray of the Patriots-Seahawks matchup. “May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England, and I’m glad everyone’s embraced the Mike Vrabel regime, all the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position.”
Brady is undoubtedly rooting for individuals on the Patriots, specifically citing coaches like Mike Vrabel (a former teammate) and Josh McDaniels (formerly Brady’s offensive coordinator in New England).
“Now in a different phase of my life, I really root for people, and the people I care about,” Brady added, “the people who I know the work that goes into what they’re trying to accomplish.”
Still, his lack of explicit support for the team he played for over a two-decade period has been met with surprise and frustration from former teammates.
“That’s bull-c***, Tom. Come on now,” former New England defensive lineman Vince Wilfork said on WEEI Wednesday. “This ain’t political, what it is. Raiders ain’t in it. Say what it is. What do you see?
“Man, look, at the end of the day, if you’re a ‘Patriot for life,’ you know what it is,” Wilfork added. Fellow former Brady teammates like Tedy Bruschi and Rob Gronkowski have also called out the ex-QB for his middle-of-the-road stance.
With that in mind, we want to hear from Patriots fans on this topic. Does it bother you that Brady is steering a neutral course in his Super Bowl LX rooting interest? Share with us in the form below or e-mail us at [email protected]. Your response may be featured in an upcoming Boston.com article.
