Drew McIntyre responds to CM Punk and Roman Reigns burying him on Raw
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and Roman Reigns did a hell of a piece of business earlier this week on Raw in their show-closing promo to set up the main event match at WrestleMania 42. But in order to get there, both top stars took heavy shots at WWE Champion Drew McIntyre for being a lesser star on a lesser show.
Drew finally had his chance to respond on tonight’s (Feb. 6) SmackDown after dealing with separate attacks from Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu throughout the show.
Drew said he was disappointed and expected better from both Punk and Reigns. What frustrates Drew the most isn’t the attacks on him, but instead how they tried to make SmackDown and his championship seem second rate. Everyone in the back should take that as a declaration of war.
Drew defended himself as the guy who took no days off and carried WWE during the pandemic. He invoked the names of past WWE champions and real men like Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, The Rock, not Dusty Rhodes, and Steve Austin, while calling Punk and Roman liars for saying he’s not the number one champion in the company.
McIntyre took shots at Reigns for needing his entire family to be the top guy, and “Fragile Phil” for being one fall away from a career ending injury. These part-timers and quitters simply don’t measure up to WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
How do you think Drew McIntyre did firing back at CM Punk and Roman Reigns after they kinda, sorta buried him on Raw? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
