Driver in custody after pursuit through Ventura, LA and San Bernardino counties – NBC Los Angeles
A driver was taken into custody after leading authorities on a chase that spanned three Southern California counties on Sunday evening.
The two-hour pursuit, which began in Ventura County and proceeded through Los Angeles County before reaching San Bernardino County, was related to a traffic violation in the city of Ventura, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit from the sheriff’s office when it reached the 101 Freeway near Thousand Oaks. The Subaru driver passed through the San Fernando Valley and continued heading east on the 210 Freeway through the San Gabriel Valley, going through the Monrovia area around 6:30 p.m.
It crossed into San Bernardino County around 6:45 p.m. and onto the 215 Freeway shortly after 7 p.m.
Video from NewsChopper 4, which was over the pursuit for more than hour, showed several spike strip attempts being made.
The driver was detained in the Barstow area at around 8:30 p.m., CHP said.
