Should we be worried about the Eagles’ offense? Are they worried about it? Graziano: I lean yes on both questions, with the caveat that they’re 4-2 and in a position to be able to fix their problems in time. But there are problems, and they do need to be fixed. It’s easy to default to “Oh, there’s locker room tension,” but I really have never had the sense that Eagles players have any personal issues with one another. They all want to be better, and if there’s tension, it’s because of the two straight losses and the urgency they all feel to get it turned around. Fowler: I was at the game against the Giants on Thursday night and definitely sensed concern. One player told me that this is starting to feel like the 2023 meltdown all over again (when Philadelphia lost five of its last six games), and the team needs to use this week to figure things out and avoid a full-blown repeat. Right tackle Lane Johnson, whose words carry weight, told reporters that the offense felt predictable. The issue is pretty clear: The Eagles aren’t dominating in the running game the way they did a year ago.

Last week, I said I was frustrated, but also bored by this Philadelphia Eagles offense. This week, I feel angrier. The loss to the New York Giants was the worst offensive performance of the season and maybe the most disheartening one to watch back. It’s a team with elite offensive talent being dragged down by poor coaching, bad structure, and players who look uncertain about what they’re being asked to do.

Philadelphia Eagles (Down 1). Projected Week 7 starters: LT Jordan Mailata, LG Brett Toth, C Cam Jurgens, RG Tyler Steen, RT Lane Johnson. The Eagles’ Week 6 loss to the Giants featured an uncharacteristic game from a usually elite offensive tackle duo. Among the 11 offensive linemen who featured in the game, Jordan Mailata (57.9) and Lane Johnson (64.0) earned the two lowest PFF overall grades. Backup left guard Brett Toth struggled in pass protection, too. He allowed the only sack that was charged to the Eagles’ offensive line this week, and he logged a 45.4 PFF pass-blocking grade. Best player: Jordan Mailata — While he surrendered 15 pressures all of last regular season, Mailata has already given up 14 this year.

Tennessee Titans (1-5, -78 point differential). The Titans have already thrown in the towel on the season, as evidenced by their firing of head coach Brian Callahan. Friendly trade partner? I don’t believe anything will happen with Patullo’s job during the season, if that’s what you’re asking. I view this differently from Sean Desai getting stripped of his duties in 2023. The terms of engagement are different — Desai had been a fallback option after Jonathan Gannon left following the Super Bowl and Vic Fangio was already in Miami. Desai didn’t have the same connection with Nick Sirianni, the coaching staff, and the organization. Patullo was essentially the offensive coordinator-in-waiting last year, he’s been part of Sirianni’s staff since the inception (Patullo literally flew on the plane with Sirianni from Indianapolis), and my suspicion is the Eagles will try to make this work. Plus, Patricia was with the team from the offseason in 2023. Bringing in a “senior offensive assistant” now wouldn’t be comparable. Parks Frazier’s entry onto the staff is most similar to an outside voice, although Frazier doesn’t have the experience that Patricia had. Unless the Eagles turned to quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler, who was a play-caller in college, there’s no one on the staff with robust play-calling experience.

Now Quinyon Mitchell is dealing with a hamstring injury and could miss the Eagles-Vikings game Sunday. What happens then? “You guys know who we got,” Vic Fangio said with an air of resignation. Yikes. What if Mitchell is able to play? Which benched corner will be out there with him? “You know, right now, probably it would be Adoree’,” he said. “The way we were going to do it in the (Giants) game, then Q went down (and) we played them both.”

Whatever solutions Sirianni and his staff might have arrived at during their weekend mini-bye, those fixes don’t involve changing anything about the playcalling operation, Sirianni said. Here, I was struck by the brevity of his response. Typically, Sirianni can filibuster through an answer with all kinds of fluff: “Nick, is today Monday?” “Well, you guys know I’m never going to say anything that might help an opponent. Some days, it’s Monday. Other days, it’s Tuesday or even Wednesday. Some days feel like Monday, but they really aren’t. Remember that cartoon cat, Garfield? He really didn’t like Mondays. But whatever day it is, we try not to get ahead of ourselves. We take one day at a time.” There was no filler, though, this Monday, when Sirianni was asked about changes to playcalling: “No,” he said. And the moderator went on to the next question.

OC Kevin Patullo: Searching for the Big C with the offense There have been times when the offense has been on fire in 2025 and there have been times when the offense has struggled to get things going. So, what is offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and his coaches and players most in search of starting Sunday against a Vikings team that blitzes 38 percent of the time? “I think when you look at just the progress from the first game until now, each game has been very different,” Patullo said. “When you look at just where we want to go, we know there’s a lot of areas we want to improve on and be more consistent in. I think that’s the biggest thing is just consistency, and it’s our job as a staff to continue to put the players in the best position, and then we’ve just got to execute it and work as a full unit together and continue to build and grow. Patullo said everyone shares in the inconsistency and that the goal is to be more effective on first and second downs so that the third-down situations are more manageable. That is something to watch Sunday against the Vikings.

Minnesota’s run defense could use the boost from Cashman’s presence, particularly with games coming up against Philadelphia, Detroit, and Baltimore over the next few weeks. Those teams all have solid running games, and that’s an area where the Vikings have had their issues in the early part of the season.
Ravens to release safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson – Baltimore Beatdown
Gardner-Johnson began the season with the Texans, where reported locker room issues led to his release after Week 3 despite starting in Houston’s first three games. The Ravens, seeking a third safety to make some changes in their secondary, signed him on October 7. Later that same day, they acquired another veteran safety, Alohi Gilman, in the Odafe Oweh trade with the Chargers. Gilman took every rep in practice this week, according to defensive coordinator Zach Orr, making it clear that Gardner-Johnson was not in Baltimore’s immediate plans. He was not elevated for Sunday’s game against the Rams and sought his release a few days later. The Ravens, who typically try to accommodate such requests, let him go. Gardner-Johnson’s desire for playing time is understandable, but he said last week (via Sam Jane of The Baltimore Sun) that the Ravens were “his only option.” He must feel that has changed after Week 6.

The Commanders need to build up the team’s division and conference records, though, in the remaining games. If Washington finishes with the same overall record as the Giants or Eagles in January, division wins come into play if the teams have split their two regular season games. Likewise, if Washington is competing for a wild card spot in the playoffs as a non-division winner, wins against NFC opponents are hugely important. Washington needs to beat Dallas on Sunday to get back above .500 in overall record, remain undefeated at 2-0 inside the NFC East, and add a win to improve to 2-3 in conference play. The best way to get to the playoffs will be to win the division. That would have felt more realistic if Washington had beaten the Bears on Monday night, but even with the loss, the Commanders sit just a game back of Philly with 11 to play. Like Washington, all three division rivals, including the Eagles, sit at a crossroads on the season as we enter Week 7. For all 4 teams, the season could come together or fall apart over the next few weeks. Beat Dallas this week and the Commanders could easily be playing for the NFC East title and home games in the playoffs when it faces the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles (twice) in the final 4 weeks of the regular season.
