Emanuel Navarrete batters Eduardo ‘Sugar’ Nunez to unify WBO and IBF titles in Mexican war
Uncrowned has Emanuel Navarrete vs. Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez live results, round-by-round updates, highlights, ring walks and start time for the Navarrete vs. Nunez fight card on Saturday night at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. In the night’s main event, Mexican duo Emanuel Navarrete and Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez clash in a WBO and IBF super featherweight title unification fight.
Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KOs), a three-division world champion, won the WBO super featherweight world title in February 2023 with a ninth-round TKO victory over Liam Wilson. Navarrete has since made three successful defenses of his title and now heads into the first unification bout of his career. Navarrete and Charly Suarez fought to a no-contest this past May in San Diego.

“Sugar” Nunez (30-1, 28 KOs) captured the IBF super featherweight title with a unanimous decision win over Masanori Rikiishi this past May. Nunez followed the title victory with a successful defense against Christopher Diaz in a September Fight of the Year contender. It was the third Fight of the Year contender in four fights for Nunez, who stopped Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in an IBF final eliminator thriller two fights prior to his win over Rikiishi.
The Navarrete vs. Nunez main card starts at 8 p.m. ET on DAZN, with main event ring walks expected at around 11 p.m. ET.

Left hand sees Nunez stumble back. Blood is pouring out of his right eye. Nunez is taking a beating. More big shots on the inside for Navarrete. Navarrete is too big, too strong and too good for Nunez tonight. According to the DAZN broadcast, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is asking for this fight to be stopped, as well. But Nunez continues to come forward. He continues to throw punches and continues to fire at the body. Four-piece from Navarrete. Nunez will not stop trying to win but he is outgunned. Nunez opens up with a combination of left hands — but he eats a much harder one from Navarrete. HUGE right hand lands for Navarrete. BIG right hand and an uppercut through the middle. Nunez’s legs are all over the place. His right eye is shut. This one could be close to a finish. They exchange on the inside. More success for Nunez. Nunez is WOBBLED again with a left hook.

Nunez shoe-shines up close. Brilliant chopping right for Navarrete. Nunez continues to walk forward, but for now, he’s just walking into shots. Body shot and a left uppercut from Navarrete on the inside. Uppercut to hook two-piece for Navarrete. Nunez closes the space and barrages on the inside. Nunez landed a solid right hand, but Navarrete had his moments in the exchange, too. They will trade shots in the center of the ring. To the body goes Nunez. Navarrete ends the round with an uppercut.

Into the second half of this fight. Nunez is certainly warming into this fight. Body shot lands for Navarrete. Nunez was off balance courtesy of a jab there. Brilliant combination on the inside for Navarrete. Nunez was hurt by a handful of hard hooks and uppercuts. Navarrete is unloading on him. Nunez is taking some good shots here. Nunez barrages the body with hooks.

Navarrete holds as Nunez breaks the gap. Nice double left from Nunez. Navarrete lands a big overhand right. Left hook for Navarrete; body shots from Nunez. Nunez begins Round 5 on the front foot. He must’ve been told to change tactics because his initial strategy hasn’t been working for him. Body shot from Nunez and a left hook upstairs. Nunez goes to the body again. Nice body shot to left hook two-piece for Navarrete. Left hooks on the inside for Nunez. Nunez lands a hard left hand. Navarrete finds two big power shots on the inside. A pair of terrific body hooks from Navarrete. Now, they are going to war.

The first three rounds in this fight have peculiar. It hasn’t been the style we were expecting from Nunez, nor the all-Mexican war fans wanted. Left hook partially connects for Navarrete. Navarrete breaks the guard with a right hand. Nunez has damage under his right eye. Navarrete opens up with a combination. Navarrete follows up to the body. Nunez pushes him back with a left hook. Now, Nunez starts to become active with his jab. Navarrete jumps into a right hand, and a flurry came afterward.

Terrific left hook counter punch from Nunez. It was his best punch of the fight so far. Body shot fired by Nunez. Nunez is still dancing around the ring; Navarrete can’t cut him off. Right hand aimed by Navarrete, but Nunez’s body shot counter was the better shot of the two. Navarrete breaks the guard with a right hand and then follows up with a flurry. Fantastic left uppercut. Nunez is ROCKED!

Navarrete is the aggressor early doors. Nunez is just boxing and moving and trying to weather what could be an early storm. Nice right hand breaks the guard for Nunez. They exchanged combinations just before on the guard. Body work from Nunez with the left hand. Navarrete is chasing but can’t pin Nunez down in the opening two minutes. Nunez walks Navarrete into a left hook. Navarrete connects with a stiff jab.
