Golden Retriever Siblings Failed the Chicken Nugget Test with Zero Regrets
Golden Retrievers are many things, but one thing they really struggle with is watching food without eating it. Let’s be honest–placing a chicken nugget on a table in front of a pair of Goldens and asking them to wait is basically setting them up for instant failure.
One mom recently shared a hilarious TikTok video putting her two Golden Retrievers’ willpower to the test, and the imaginary commentary is just as funny as the end result. TikToker @tuckerbudzyn placed one chicken nugget in front of Tucker, the older pup on the left, and Todd, the younger one on the right.
She tells them to “leave it” and then leaves the room. As they watch her walk away, you can feel the tension rise, with both pups trying to decide what to do about the delicious, tempting piece of meat sitting just inches away and staring them down.
Poor Todd didn’t stand a chance—he was drooling before she even left the room. Tucker’s strategy, on the other hand, seemed to be working, as he kept his gaze fixed in the direction their mom disappeared. It was as if he knew that the moment he looked at the nugget, it would call to him even louder than it already was.

Tucker even appeared to be sending telepathic messages to Todd, who hadn’t taken his eyes off the breaded hunks of chicken since Mom walked away.
Ultimately, the temptation proved too great, and both Golden Retrievers finally caved. They scarfed those chicken nuggies down in a single gulp. Of course, when Mom returns and asks, “Does someone want to tell me what happened?” both boys clam up immediately. Tucker lays his head on the table, while Todd decides he’ll be much safer hiding underneath it.
Funny Reactions From the Comment Section
This video went viral quickly, with more than 50K likes on TikTok. Many fans expressed their support for the boys, including one person who said, “In their defense, you technically didn’t specify how long they needed to leave it. You only told them that you’d be right back. So in conclusion, they’re innocent of any wrongdoing!”
Another commenter wrote, “In Tucker’s defense, he HAD to eat his, otherwise Todd would have!” and he’s probably not wrong! Todd was definitely ready to eat the second chicken nugget if Tucker didn’t go for it!
One fan summed it up perfectly, joking, “They have more self-control than me… mine would’ve been gone in a second!”
Many people in the comments mentioned how long it had been since they’d last seen Tucker and Todd. I think I speak for all their fans when I say we’re very happy to have them back!
