The forthcoming November update for Google Pixel devices has shown up a little early in some leaked images, suggesting that “theme packs” and more are on the way.

Google Pixel “Feature Drops” arrive every few months with new features and, occasionally, the latest Android maintenance release. The next Feature Drop was expected to launch in December in line with Android 16 QPR2, but it seems that it might be coming early.

Leaker group Mystic Leaks on Telegram has posted images showing the Pixel Tips app detailing new features coming to Pixel phones as a part of an apparent November Feature Drop. The screenshots detail three new features:

  • Pixel Theme Packs
  • Pixel Studio animations
  • Pixel VIP notifications

Starting with theme packs, this new feature would give Google Pixel devices a one-tap theme. This seems to be a glorified wallpaper selection that auto-applies themed icons to match. Google is, based on the screenshots and videos, launching this starting with a “Wicked: For Good” theme pack that seems to include “For Good,” “Glinda,” and “Elphaba” themes within a pack.

Google’s description also mentions that the theme pack would change “sounds” and “GIFs,” though there’s nothing showing those two.

Instantly customize your Pixel with Wicked: For Good theme packs. One tap changes your wallpaper, icons, GIFs and sounds.

Then, there’s support for creating animations within the Pixel Studio app. This would allow users to “transform any image” into a GIF or animated sticker for further sharing. A video showing this in action shows how to create an image using a text prompt and then animate it using an “Animate image” button.

Easily transform any image or Pixel Studio creation into a GIF or animated sticker. Bring life to your creations with a range of custom actions for even more personality to your messages.

Finally, there’s an upgrade to Pixel VIP which was introduced in June. Originally, the feature was just a widget that could show messages from Google Messages and WhatsApp as well as seeing “activity suggestions personalized for you and your VIPs” on a homescreen widget.

With this November update, Google is giving Pixel VIP contacts prioritized notifications, again only for messages coming from Google Messages and WhatsApp. This includes highlighting these notifications in yellow and showing the contact photo in Android’s status bar.

Pixel VIPs now elevates message notifications from your VIPs on messages sent via WhatsApp and Google Messages. You’ll see message notifications from your VIPs highlighted in yellow and their contact photo in the status bar to make sure you never miss a moment from them.

The screenshots suggest a November 4 release date – which is in line with Google’s usual Pixel update schedule – but it is a bit strange that there’s a noticeable typo in the Pixel Tips app description. And, again, it also seems odd to release all of these new features a month before QPR2’s release, as well as less than two months after the last Feature Drop. That’s to say, take this with a small grain of salt.
