Google teases I/O 2026 with ‘Make Build Unlock’ puzzle
The journey to Google I/O 2026 is well underway this morning with a puzzle to figure out the dates for the developer conference.
You have to “Play through all builds to unlock the final bonus” that will help reveal the date of Google I/O 2026. This puzzle comes a few days later than last year’s.
Every play gets you closer to unlocking the Google I/O date.
Like in previous years, a certain number of people needed to complete the puzzle before the Google I/O date reveal later in the day.
Community play fuels progress. When it’s full, the date drops
There are five “builds” or games that leverages Gemini 3, with each available to “Remix in AI Studio”:
- Hole in one uses Gemini 3 to create a helpful caddy. Get tips and fun commentary tailored to your unique gameplay.
- Nonogram uses Gemini to create endless game boards.
- Word wheel leverages Gemini 3 to automate level design, ensuring every puzzle is balanced and enjoyable.
- Supersonic Bot uses Gemini to introduce microphone mechanics where noise controls the Android
Bot’s altitude. - Stretchy cat uses Gemini 3 as a stage designer balancing game mechanics and level difficulty to create endless play. Complete the build, then refresh and play again for more.
The first game is mini-golf where you click and hold a direction to aim your ball shot and adjust power. You have to avoid obstacles, with a Gemini-powered “caddy” providing feedback. Level 1 had the Android Bot as the obstacle.
