Hannah Berner Left ‘Summer House’ Due to Ciara Love Triangle

It feels like a lifetime ago that Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner were the new cast members on Summer House. Since leaving the show, the two have addressed the Amanda Batula and West Wilson relationship drama in support of their friend Ciara Miller. “Obviously, we’re alive. Like, we see the internet. We see it. We know what’s going on,” DeSorbo began on the latest episode of their podcast, Giggly Squad. “We will say, obviously, Ciara is our real friend in real life. So we have been talking to her, consoling her. We are behind her 100 percent. We would never capitalize or monetize off of our friend’s heartbreak.” She called Miller a “strong, intelligent, capable woman” who will “speak her truth when it is her time” as Berner nodded in agreement. DeSorbo also said drama like this is one reason they are no longer interested in being on reality TV.

Berner, who left Summer House before DeSorbo did, added that the manufactured drama of reality TV could never match the craziness of real life. “This is an example of how what actually is going on in people’s lives is far crazier than anything they ever show,” she explained. “Giggly Squad was created after us seeing how [the show] wanted to depict fights and how they wanted to depict people, and we felt like so much was on the cutting-room floor and they weren’t showing the things that they should show.” Berner then gave props to Miller, recalling how, when Miller joined the cast, she was set up to be in a love triangle with Berner; they were both interested in Luke Gulbranson. “I was supposed to be beefing with her from the second I met her. We should have never had a chance [to become friends]. It was immediately like, ‘You two need to fight over a man,’” Berner confessed. “The second I met her, I looked her in the eye and we were like, ‘I love you. You love cats. I fuck with you.’ And she had, like, a cat ring on, and she’s had my back since the day I met her. And I feel the same way towards her.”
