Harvey Weinstein Says He Has ‘Cancel-itis’ While Lamenting That Bradley Cooper and Ted Sarandos Won’t Take His Calls

Harvey Weinstein says he’s lost touch with a number of people since his incarceration.

In his first major interview since being transferred to Rikers Island jail, the former movie producer and convicted sex offender opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about how his circle of friends has changed drastically since he’s been behind bars.

Weinstein told the outlet that “most” of the people he knew from his career in Hollywood have stopped talking to him, including close friends, family and “people who owe their entire careers to me.”

“I wish Jeffrey Katzenberg would take my call. I wish Ted Sarandos would. Bradley Cooper. I miss these people not just as business — there was more to it than that,” he said of the producer, Netflix CEO and actor-filmmaker. “But I’m cancel-itis. Toxic. You take my phone call and you get canceled.”

“I get it. I don’t expect anyone to destroy their careers for me,” he continued, adding, “I’m scared to call people because I don’t want them canceled for talking to me.”

Weinstein noted a few people “risk it anyway” and reach out to him, though he declined to share who he’d been in touch with.

Among those who no longer speak to him is Weinstein’s ex-wife Georgina Chapman, with whom the former producer shares 15-year-old daughter India and 12-year-old son Dashiell. Despite their situation, however, Chapman still allows their kids to visit him, he told THR.

Weinstein also expressed remorse for how his public downfall affected Chapman, a fashion designer, who he said suffered professionally in response. Many of her clients “abandoned her overnight,” he said.

“I am sorry she got such a bad rap. She knew nothing about what I was doing. I was a master of deception,” Weinstein said. “To punish her company is an act of insanity.”

Weinstein is currently serving a criminal sentence for his 2022 convictions for sex crimes charges in California. He was separately convicted of rape and sexual assault in New York in 2020, but those convictions were overturned in April 2024. In June 2025, he was convicted of one count of criminal sexual act, which Weinstein sought to appeal, but the appeal was recently denied in January.
