- An episode featuring The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star is still available to stream on Hulu.
- The show was pulled following a domestic violence scandal involving Taylor and her ex Dakota Mortensen.
The Bachelorette was supposed to premiere its 22nd season on Sunday, March 22, but instead, a rerun of American Idol ran in the 8/7c time slot. The decision to pull the show, which stars Taylor Frankie Paul as the lead, was made just three days earlier.
However, many fans noticed that there was still an episode of the dating series available to stream on Hulu. Will the season still air on the streamer? Swooon is breaking it down.
Is The Bachelorette still airing on Hulu?
No, The Bachelorette Season 22 is not airing on Hulu. The one episode that includes Taylor on the streamer is just a preseason special called Before the First Rose, which was filmed the day before she met her 22 suitors at the Bachelor mansion.
The special aired after The Oscars on March 15 and became available to stream on Hulu afterwards.
What is Before the First Rose?
Before the First Rose was Taylor’s introduction to the franchise. Most of the former Bachelorettes returned to the mansion to welcome Taylor into the fold. The ladies offered her advice and reminisced about their own time on the show.
Since Taylor was never a contestant on The Bachelor and came into this process pretty blindly, the meeting allowed her to ask questions of the women who came before her.
Why was Taylor Frankie Paul’s season canceled?
One day after Before the First Rose aired, Taylor made headlines after police confirmed that there was an open “domestic assault investigation” that involved the reality star and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Both parties made allegations that the other got “physical” with them during an alleged February incident. It was also reported that Dakota called the Utah Division of Child and Family Services on his ex more than once.
Amid these new allegations, details of Taylor’s 2023 arrest resurfaced. At the time, she was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a minor. She was charged with aggravated assault and ordered to three years of probation.
The details of what happened during this domestic dispute were made public at the time, but on March 19, a video of what went down was released on TMZ, which prompted ABC to pull the season.
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” a spokesperson said in a statement. The video showed Taylor throwing chairs at Dakota while one of her children was in the room.
Following the new allegations Dakota has made against Taylor, he was granted temporary custody of their son, Ever. A hearing has been set for April 7, according to People.
