In the wake of her divorce, Jessica Simpson has certainly kept herself occupied. In March, she dropped a country EP; then, she got into snake sperm (don’t ask); and, most recently, she rediscovered her love for the silver screen via a role in Kim Kardashian’s soapy legal drama All’s Fair. While attending the premiere Thursday night, Simpson caught up with Extra and wound up sharing that, like many newly single women, she’s really enjoying dating younger.
As part of her cameo in the show — which also stars Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Teyana Taylor, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Naomi Watts — Simpson plays a romantic opposite Rick Springfield. “Rick Springfield is my love interest, so I got to get down and dirty with ‘Jessie’s Girl,’” she told the outlet of her 76-year-old co-star. “That was interesting. I have never made out with a man that much older than me. It wasn’t terrible.”
When Extra asked if scenes with Springfield inspired her to date older men, Simpson explained that, actually, her experience had been quite the opposite. “I think I’m into younger men at the moment,” she laughed. “When you’re newly separated, I feel like younger guys kinda like the confidence of an older woman, I’m discovering.” She added, “I am having fun!”
After a grueling divorce from ex Eric Johnson, this is exactly the type of attention Simpson deserves. The former couple, who wed in July 2014 and share three children, split in January after ten years of marriage, and Simpson has been open about how difficult the process has been for her family. But along with Charlize Theron and Kathy Griffin, it seems like Simpson, who is 45, has seen the light in younger men. Congratulations to everyone for getting what’s theirs.
