The main event of tonight’s (Oct. 20) episode of Raw was a Battle Royal to determine who will wrestle against CM Punk to become the new world heavyweight champion on November 1 at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Big news came in well before the main event started as GM Adam Pearce informed Paul Heyman that Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were removed from the match graphic and are no longer in the bout. This came about after The Vision tried to humiliate Pearce in the opening segment of the show.
There were plenty of stories to be had in the Battle Royal, including Sheamus returning to Raw and eliminating Judgment Day members JD McDonagh and Finn Balor. They didn’t play fair afterwards and dragged the Celtic Warrior over the ropes for Kofi Kingston to eliminate.
Dominik Mysterio also had an eventful match, starting with his simultaneous elimination of Penta and Rusev. Dirty Dom was later eliminated by AJ Styles, but Mysterio ran back in and continued on when he realized the referees didn’t see his feet hit the floor.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Uso saved his twin brother Jey multiple times during the bout. But when it came down to the final four and Jimmy was struggling with LA Knight as both men were leaning over the top rope, Jey took advantage of the situation for a double elimination. Jimmy was not happy at all about his twin brother tossing his ass out of the ring like that.
That left Jey Uso and Dirty Dom as the final two wrestlers in the match. Jey had his back to Mysterio as Jimmy was giving him an earful from the outside. Dominik came in from behind with a 619, but Jey countered it and secured the win.
That means it will be CM Punk vs. Jey Uso for the vacant world heavyweight championship on November 1 at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
