Koei Tecmo’s rock hard samurai action game, Nioh 3, has set a new series record as it passes impressive sales milestone
Nioh 3, the challenging Team Ninja samurai action game, has passed one million copies sold in two weeks. According to the game’s publisher Koei Tecmo, this makes it the fastest selling entry in the series’ history.
In a post made to celebrate the occasion, it was also revealed that the entire series has sold over 10m copies too. In a message to fans and supporters the developers stated they “are truly grateful to players around the world for their incredible support.”
An accolades trailer was also released to coincide with the announcement, which features multiple review scores, quotes, and gameplay footage of Nioh 3. You can watch it yourself below.
It was only last week Nioh 3 received its first major post-launch patch, fixing progress halting bugs, crashes, and tweaking the health of some enemies. It also fixed the friend searching mechanic, which stopped working after a while. All in all, the game is in a decent state now with its rougher edges smoothed off.
If you’ve not picked up Nioh 3 yet, you can read Eurogamer’s review! In it, Dom Peppiatt wrote: “Innovation is the ki to success for Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, as Nioh 3 iterates on the formula once more to take an already great ‘masocore’ series to new heights.”
