Lenovo debuts new 8.8-inch Legion Tab with 9,000 mAh battery
Following up on its first release in the States, Lenovo is back with a new Legion Tab, Gen 5, which brings back the compact 8.8-inch form factor but this time with a much bigger battery, new colors, and a way higher price too.
The Lenovo Legion Tab (Gen 5) is familiar in a few ways. It has an 8.8-inch LCD display, but now with much higer resolution of 3040×1904. It’s also powered by the latest flagship Snapdragon chip, this time the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (paired with 12GB or up to 16GB of RAM).
The hardware has also added an RGB accent on the back (of course) as well as two new colors, with white and “Surge” green (a FIFA edition) joining the standard black.

In person, it feels familar while being a pretty big update.
The higher-resolution display looks great, while the software felt a tiny bit smoother, at least based on first impression. That “Surge” green is super vibrant too.

As someone who immediately bought the last Legion Tab on its release, this upgrade looks pretty solid across the board. Really, the only two things missing are proper biometrics and an OLED display, like that Redmagic Astra tablet I reviewed a few months ago. But, ultimately, this new tablet is very much serving the same audience.
I’m just not sure who wants to spend $849 on this.
Compared to the prior Legion Tab which sold for $549, that’s a big price hike. Lenovo didn’t have a specific reason for why the price has gone up so much, but it seems obvious enough that RAM and chipset costs are probably a big part of why.
So, are you interested? Legion Tab (Gen 5) will be available in May.
