Emotional scenes are unfolding at the Re’im military facility in southern Israel where the released hostages are being reunited with their closest families after more than two years in captivity.
Omri Miran, 48, who was kidnapped when Hamas gunmen broke into his family’s home in kibbutz Nahal Oz, was met by his wife Lishay Miran-Lavi and his father Dani Miran.
Miran and his wife are seen here wearing t-shirts made by their children Roni and Alma. They are expected to be reunited with their father later today.
“After more than 700 long, painful, and agonizing days, Omri will finally receive from Roni and Alma a healing embrace,” the family of Omri Miran said in a statement released by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.
“We are at the beginning of a complex and challenging, yet moving, journey of recovery. We remain committed to the struggle—until the last hostage returns, and until the complete recovery of our beloved country. May Omri’s return mark the beginning of this recovery and the unity of our people,” they said.
