McDonald’s McNuggets free caviar kits fly off virtual shelves within minutes
Update: The free McDonald’s McNugget caviar kits that launched exclusively online at 11 a.m. ET were no longer available within minutes of the launch.
McDonald’s is hopping on a viral food trend by offering up a free McNugget Caviar kit exclusively online today. That’s right — chicken McNuggets topped with caviar.
“The crispy, golden goodness of our signature McNuggets and the salty, savory, black pearls of Paramount’s Baerii Sturgeon caviar make for a true match made in heaven for the special occasions in life,” the news release says.
Caviar, considered a luxury, is salt-cured, unfertilized fish eggs, usually sourced from wild sturgeon. It’s typically served on blinis, toast or as a garnish.
But McDonald’s is thinking outside the golden arches and is teaming up with Paramount Caviar while pulling inspiration from the chicken and caviar dish served at the U.S. Open last summer that went viral.
Coqodaq, a New York-based Korean restaurant, sold six chicken nuggets topped with premium caviar, crème fraîche and chives for about $100 per box. The luxury snack was controversial.
If you’re curious to try the kit for a Galentine’s Day celebration, or just want to “treat yo’ self,” here’s what to know.
