Michael Jordan & Mike Tirico will have a series on NBC throughout the 2025-26 season. (NBC)
In an exclusive appearance Tuesday on NBC & Peacock, airing at halftime of Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets, Michael Jordan spoke with Mike Tirico about how he spends his time post-retirement, why he felt it was important to launch his “MJ: Insights To Excellence” series … and the unlikely time he felt pressure attempting a free throw.

Jordan, who said that he has not picked up a basketball in years, said he last put up a shot a few years ago while renting a house during the Ryder Cup. The owner of the house asked Jordan if he would shoot a free throw while the owner’s grandkids were there – and that’s when Jordan felt his most nerves in years.
“The reason being those kids heard the stories from the parents about what I did 30 years ago,” Jordan said, “so their expectation is 30 years prior and I haven’t touched a basketball.”
When Tirico said that he hoped Jordan swished the shot, how do you expect one of the greatest players of all-time would respond?
“Absolutely,” Jordan confirmed. “I got the most gratifying [feeling], that made my whole week that I was able to please their kids, not knowing if I could.”
Jordan’s conversation with Tirico was the first edition of a series that will appear throughout the season on NBC broadcasts.
