Middle TN school district announces Thursday, Friday closures due to flu
MANCHESTER, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Coffee County School District has announced a closure on Thursday and Friday due to a high number of students experiencing illness.
CCS reports that the entire district will be closed as the community has seen an increase in flu-like symptoms.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we believe it is important to provide time for students and staff to rest and recover, and to help reduce the spread of illness,” CCS said.

Below is a look at the district’s schedule update:
- Thursday, February 12: No school for students (school closed), but teacher in-service will take place (previously scheduled for Friday)
- Friday, February 13: No school for students or staff
- Monday, February 16: No school (Presidents Day holiday)
- Tuesday, February 17: Students return to school
“This extended break will allow families additional time to focus on rest and recovery. During this time, our maintenance and custodial teams will also be working to sanitize and disinfect classrooms and school facilities,” the district said.
“We appreciate your support and understanding as we take these steps to protect the health and safety of our school community. To help prevent illness and support recovery, we encourage families to prioritize proper rest, stay hydrated, wash hands frequently with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, and keep students home if they are feeling sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms.”
