Mind-boggling crossplay mod lets Minecraft and Hytale fans play together
Hytale may have only been out since the middle of January, but that hasn’t stopped some highly talented modders from creating a mind-boggling crossplay mod, allowing you to play Minecraft and Hytale at the same time with your friends.
Few games are as highly modded as Minecraft and Hytale. Both have hundreds (if not thousands) of different mods for players to enjoy, whether it’s adding new furniture, enemies, or entirely different gaming experiences.
After all, while they’re both different games, the blocky design and open-world crafting gameplay allow for easy mod integration.
Despite them being different games, the two do get mixed up, with players often wondering what the difference is. Naturally, fans of Minecraft make up a lot of Hytale’s playerbase, and it’s because of these similarities that one new mod has been revealed, allowing Hytale and Minecraft to finally get crossplay.
Minecraft & Hytale crossplay unlocked in new mod
As revealed on the Hytale Reddit, a user explained that they’re currently working on making a “Hytale Client & Minecraft Client Crossplay.”
What this means is that one player playing Minecraft will be able to join another in Hytale. Think any other game with platform crossplay, but instead of the platforms, it’s two completely different games.
“The Hytale Server is the Host! Currently, many things are Broken and the Hytale Server is the only one that has Authority. The MC Clients can only see eachother and Hytale Players for now,” explained the creator.
They also explained how the mod works in a video, revealing how the characters in each game are represented and how the worlds, blocks, and interactions work.
As the creator has explained, there’s a lot they need to do to make this possible, but it seems we’ll be getting crossplay for the two games very soon. Luckily, there are tons of mods to keep fans occupied for the time being.
