After five years of infertility, Caitlin Wright was beginning to lose hope that she would be able to grow her family — until something miraculous happened.
Wright, who has been sharing her infertility journey on her TikTok channel, tells PEOPLE that she and her husband decided to grow their family during the pandemic.
“My husband and I decided to start expanding our family in the summer of 2020, and after 6 months of trying to conceive, we did some bloodwork that showed I had some hormone levels that were off,” Wright explains.
“We then went to a reproductive endocrinologist and found that I had ‘diminished ovarian reserve,’ and that started our journey of four IUIs (intrauterine insemination) with that clinic,” she continues. “We moved clinics and did two more IUIs and one egg retrieval that resulted in a five-day refresh that worked!”

“I had hyperemesis gravidarum and was very sick for the first 22 weeks,” says Wright of her first pregnancy. “I then started sharing about my exclusive pumping (EP) journey in 2024 and then started sharing more about my infertility journey in 2025, and have grown my community on Instagram and TikTok of other EP moms, as well as moms struggling with infertility.”
Wright and her husband decided to grow their family again last year, and were fortunate enough to learn they conceived naturally at the end of December.
“I was feeling off near the end of my cycle and decided to take a test to just see, and to our surprise, it came back positive!” she says. “We were in absolute shock for most of the day, but it was three days before Christmas, so we had the chaos of the holidays to keep us distracted.”
Even Wright’s friends and family members couldn’t believe that she was pregnant.
“Friends and family were absolutely shocked, especially after our journey!” explains Wright. “I don’t think our doctor was as surprised, though. She is not only my OB, but also excised my endometriosis. We picked her specifically because of her skillset and success with endo excision and because she would see us through a pregnancy, so there’d be no transfer of care.”
Wright is now in her first trimester, but has been suffering again from hyperemsis gravidarum.
“This pregnancy has been a bit difficult and I unfortunately have hyperemesis again,” she says. “We have a great care team and since I’ve had experience with HG, we’re better prepared.”
Looking ahead to the next few months, Wright says she just can’t wait to experience life with her new little one.
“Being a family of four,” she says when asked what she’s most looking forward to. “I’m so excited to get to see our toddler be a big brother.”
Above everything else, Wright hopes that other women who might be in a similar position can see that there are others going through the same experience.
“I hope other moms dealing with infertility know they’re not alone!” she says. “It can be so dark and lonely walking that path, but there’s communities online and in person for you to connect with others going through similar experiences!”
