NCAA Tournament Rd2 Preview: Arkansas vs High Point
PORTLAND, Ore. – Arkansas will face #12 seed High Point, which upset #4 Wisconsin Thursday, on Saturday (Mar. 21) in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament in Portland, Ore. (Moda Center). The game is scheduled to start at approximately 6:55 pm (PT) / 8:45 pm (CT) – following the Gonzaga-Texas game – and will be televised on TBS and truTV.
Arkansas is 13-10 all-time in NCAA second-round games, while Razorback head coach John Calipari is 16-5 all-time in second-round games.
Both teams have high-powered offenses with High Point ranking 3rd in the NCAA at 90.0 ppg and Arkansas ranking 4th at 89.9 ppg. Both teams rank among the NCAA top 20 in field goal percentage, assist/turnover ratio and fewest turnovers per game.
The Razorbacks and Panthers have a common opponent this season in the Winthrop Eagles. Arkansas edged Winthrop 84-83 on Nov. 18 in Bud Walton Arena. High Point, which plays in the Big South, played its conference foe Winthrop three times. Winthrop beat HPU, 92-75, in Rock Hill, S.C., on Jan. 14. The Panthers won the other two meetings, first in High Point, 89-87 on Feb. 21, and once again in the Big South Tournament championship game, 91-76.
The Arkansas-High Point winner will face the winner of #3 seed Gonzaga and #11 seed Texas next week in the Sweet 16 in San Jose.
NOTES:
- Arkansas is 1-0 all-time versus High Point. Bobby Portis led the Hogs to an 89-48 victory on Dec. 28, 2013 in Bud Walton Arena.
- With seven assists vs Hawai’i, Acuff now has 223 to set the Arkansas single-season record, breaking the mark of 219 by Kareem Reid (also a freshman) in 1995-96.
- With his 24 points vs Hawai’i, Acuff has 781 points and is just FIVE POINTS SHY of the Arkansas single season record of 786 set by Todd Day in 1990-91.
