A few weeks ago, One UI 8.5 firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra surfaced online, revealing several design changes. Now, a newer build of the update has appeared, and it brings something we rarely see from Samsung: new wallpapers.

Samsung seems to be focusing heavily on visual improvements with One UI 8.5, and this latest firmware really drives that point home. The company doesn’t usually include new wallpapers with major One UI or Android updates, and most Galaxy devices continue using the same preloaded wallpapers they launched with, even after multiple OS upgrades.

There are two new interactive wallpapers

That’s why the two new interactive wallpapers in this build are a pleasant surprise. The first wallpaper features lines resembling a basketball court’s surface. When used on the lock screen, a basketball drops and rolls across it, adding a subtle but playful animation.

See the new wallpapers in action below.

The second wallpaper shows a stylized archway with stairs leading through it; it has an architectural style similar to the one seen in the Monument Valley games. On the lock screen, tilting the phone causes the image to rotate in the opposite direction, giving it a parallax-like effect that’s heavier than the one we usually see on Samsung’s preloaded wallpapers.

It’s not clear yet whether these wallpapers will make it to the final version of One UI 8.5 or if Samsung plans to add more new ones. This new build removes the tile view for favorite contacts Samsung introduced in the previous build, so Samsung is clearly still fine-tuning the update and a lot could change before the update is ready for release.
