Nintendo Ignites A War With Kirby Air Riders Bikini Board Fans
Well, that was fun while it lasted. Nintendo has taken down a Kirby Air Riders custom vehicle from its user-created store that depicts the series’ supporting character Chef Kawasaki in a bikini. As a result, fans are flocking to a similar hoverboard that’s still on the marketplace before the company can ban that one, too.
Automaton reports that Japanese fans have been expressing disappointment online after the original custom hoverboard that was painted to look like Kawasaki in a micro bikini has been removed from the custom vehicle storefront. The design originates from a banned fan game and went on to become a meme in the Japanese Kirby community, so it’s entirely possible this is just an extension of Nintendo and Kirby developer HAL Laboratory trying to wipe the scantily clad chef from existence. However, as of this writing, there’s still a bikini-wearing Kawasaki on the Air Riders’ marketplace, though it’s not quite as revealing.

Following the banning of the first one, another bikini Kawasaki vehicle has raced to the top of the machine market’s most expensive vehicles, and it adds wings and a tail to make the guy look like a succubus. The other distinction is that the bottom of the two-piece is drawn to cover much more of Kawasaki’s nether regions, so this one may have escaped Nintendo’s ban hammer by making the chef slightly more modest.

While some players are using Air Riders’ creation tools for elaborate shitposts, a lot of folks are just making some really impressive ships and karts for people to ride on. In just one day, the marketplace was already flooded with some really cool creations, including ones meant to look like characters and ships from other games like Pokémon and Earthbound.
