Overwatch April Fools’ Event Throws Balance Out Again
Every year Overwatch holds an April Fools’ Day event that adds a crazy new mode of chaotic balance changes and altered voice lines, and sticks googly eyes on the face of every hero. Blizzard still found time to add one this year even as it’s overhauling and rebooting the hero shooter with new updates, heroes, and lore drops.
The “Underwatch” event is going up today, and some of the balance changes we can see in the announcement trailer include making Mei taller and probably buffing her like a tank, dialing up D.va’s projectiles into large, slow-moving homing missiles, breaking up Domina’s shield so it has a bunch of holes as if her tech is malfunctioning, and turning Cassidy’s finger-guns greeting into an actual gun. It also looks like Vendetta is getting a third-person lock-on view like you would see in a character action game. That’s fun.
The limited-time mode will be available from April 1 to 13. Just expect your Play of the Game highlights to include the googly eyes on your hero for a little bit regardless of whether you’re playing the mode. The full Underwatch patch notes are as follows:
