Pizza Hut closing 250 restaurants, considering sale
A popular pizza chain is planning to downsize in the next few months.

Around 250 Pizza Hut restaurants — about 4% of its United States footprint — are on the chopping block this year, according to a Wednesday earnings call.
Yum Brands, Pizza Hut’s parent company, plans to close hundreds of “underperforming” restaurants during the first half of 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to revive the struggling franchise. In November, Yum Brands announced it was weighing a sale of the chain.
Pizza Hut, which was founded in 1958, operates around 6,000 restaurants nationwide, with just under two dozen in the Portland-Vancouver area.
In 2020, the Wichita, Kansas-based pizza chain closed about 300 locations after filing for bankruptcy protections.
Pizza Hut has not shared which locations are expected to close.
