Real Reason Behind WWE Running Masked Attacker Angle
The chaos surrounding Bron Breakker’s Royal Rumble elimination may have looked random—but a new report reveals there’s a calculated reason behind the masked attacker storyline, and it’s all about Seth Rollins.
According to Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, WWE ran the mysterious Rumble ambush on Breakker because they expect Rollins to return from his shoulder injury before WrestleMania 42.
“WWE expects Rollins back before WrestleMania, which is why they ran the angle,” Hays reported on February 4, 2026.
The masked man—who delivered a curb stomp to Breakker before tossing him into the ring for a quick elimination—has led to widespread speculation ever since the January 31 Premium Live Event. Breakker entered at #2, only to be ambushed and dumped out moments later by Oba Femi after the surprise attack.
The fallout carried into the February 2 episode of WWE RAW, where Breakker kicked off the show in a full-blown meltdown. Furious and seeking answers, he tore apart the ringside area and confronted RAW General Manager Adam Pearce—only to be restrained by his Vision stablemates Paul Heyman, Austin Theory, Bronson Reed and Logan Paul.
Heyman teased that Pearce might be behind the ambush, even hinting that travel or immigration clearances could’ve played a role. Pearce didn’t hold back either, mocking Breakker’s performance and triggering a near-physical confrontation. The night spiraled even further when LA Knight attacked Theory and Logan Paul—raising more questions about possible connections to the mystery assailant.
But if Hays’ report is accurate, all signs point to Seth Rollins being at the center of it. Rollins has been sidelined since suffering a shoulder injury at Crown Jewel 2025, and while he recently said he’s pushing for a WrestleMania 42 return, he admitted the final call rests with medical clearance. Now it seems WWE is already laying the groundwork for his comeback—and the masked man could very well be revealed as The Visionary.
