Renato Moicano lays waste to Chris Duncan with submission finish, shouts ‘f*ck the fans’ after UFC Vegas 115 main event
Renato Moicano got back on track with a vintage performance after he ran through Chris Duncan in the UFC Vegas 115 main event.
It was a one-sided performance from start to finish after Moicano established his striking early and that led to a devastating knockdown after he stabbed Duncan with a lead jab and then followed with a left hook that put him down. From there, Moicano displayed his world-class grappling until he locked up a fight finishing rear-naked choke with the end coming at 3:14 in the second round.
“All love for this guy,” Moicano said to Duncan after the fight. “No disrespect to the coaches. I have to come back from a two fight skid. I fought one of the best ever Islam Makhachev and I didn’t want to knock out [Beneil] Dariush, that’s why he got away.”
Sharp boxing from Moicano set the tone early after he clipped Duncan with a stiff right hand to start the fight and he was also checking leg kicks very effectively. Moicano was also mixing up his attacks, striking with Duncan and then setting up his takedown attempts.
Moicano then set up a good lead jab that was just stabbing away at Duncan on the feet as he continued to struggle to produce much offense against his teammate. A big exchange in the second round also saw Moicano blast Duncan with a hard shot that rattled the Scottish lightweight.
A few moments later, Moicano snapped off another stiff punch and this time Duncan dropped to the canvas. Moicano immediately jumped on his back and started to hammer away with punches while setting up potential submissions.
With blood streaming across his face, Duncan was playing defense as Moicano kept chipping away at him after locking up the body triangle. The punishment continued until Moicano softened him up and then snatched the rear-naked choke.
A split second later, Duncan tapped out to end the fight as Moicano capped off a lopsided submission victory to return to the win column from those back-to-back losses.
As far as what comes next, Moicano is looking for another dominant win but he also took exception to the fans during his post-fight interview.
“F*ck the fans. I love you guys but f*ck you all,” Moicano said. “You better give me somebody that is easy and is in the rankings. Otherwise, I’m going to f*cking retire. Because I don’t want to fight a bullshit guy. I’m making a lot of money with YouTube. Follow me on YouTube, motherf*ckers.”
Always entertaining in the cage and on the microphone, Moicano took full advantage of his main event spot and it appears he’s looking to take out another top 15 opponent in his next fight. As for Duncan, his four-fight win streak comes to a halt after falling to Moicano on Saturday night.
