Sabrina Carpenter Blasts “Evil” White House ICE Video Using Her Song
UPDATED, with White House comment: Sabrina Carpenter blasted the White House on Tuesday for using her song “Juno” in an ICE deportation video.
Carpenter wrote on X that the video “is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”
The White House posted the video on Monday, featuring images of ICE officers detaining individuals set to Carpenter’s song as a soundtrack. Quoting from the lyrics, the White House posted on X, “Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye.”
White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson said in response: “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?”
The White House has featured the songs of other artists in deportation and other videos, raising their anger over their use without their OK. In October, Kenny Loggins objected to the use of his song “Danger Zone” from Top Gun in an AI-generated video that depicted Trump dropping feces on No Kings protesters.
“This is an unauthorized use of my performance of ‘Danger Zone.’ Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied, and I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately,” Loggins wrote. His music remains in the video on Trump’s Truth Social account.
