Samsung’s Galaxy S26 plans have not been going well as of late, but rumor has it that the company is now delaying the launch of its flagship series by several weeks.
The latest Galaxy S flagships from Samsung are often the first major smartphone release of a new year, and Samsung has been pushing up the date every year as of late. Where the launch used to take place around March, it’s moved up to January in recent years. The Galaxy S25 series, for instance, launched on January 22, 2025.
But, apparently, Samsung is seeing a major delay for the Galaxy S26 series.
Reports are currently circulating that Samsung has delayed the launch of the Galaxy S26 series. Tipster Ice Universe says this is true on Weibo, and WinFuture adds quite a bit more context with their own sourcing. Apparently, the Galaxy S26 launch date has been pushed back as far as late February or early March, a delay of several weeks. That places the launch closer to Samsung’s launch windows for the Galaxy S23 (mid-February) and Galaxy S22 (late-February).
Why the delay?
There’s no firm reason mentioned, but it could very well be that the last-minute decision to cancel the Galaxy S26 Edge and replace it with the Galaxy S26+ has left development in some level of chaos, requiring a bit more time for Samsung’s plans to be ready for launch.
