After months of speculation and leaks, most involving animations alone, Samsung has finally pulled back the curtain and shown off the Galaxy TriFold in person. Apparently, Samsung still wants to launch the device before the year is up.

The Galaxy TriFold was shown off in a secure glass case at the APEC 2025 summit in South Korea. There were two devices locked up behind a transparent set of displays to invoke some sense of futurism, but no in-hand demos were seemingly available for the cutting-edge Android phone.

The Galaxy TriFold, as we know it, is a device that adds another panel to the Galaxy Z Fold series. That secondary hinge allows the device to extend one more section, expanding the size of foldable phones to emulate tablets more than smartphones.

We’ve gleaned what we can from previously leaked software animations, which have revealed exactly how the Galaxy TriFold would unfold and fold. If you’re looking at it from the internal display, the right side of the display folds in first. Once the left side folds in, you have a traditional phone – sort of. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, the device doesn’t articulate in different directions, and the external display is not expandable beyond what Samsung already allows in its Galaxy Z Fold 6.

At the APEC 2025 summit, any doubts about size look to be squashed. Images of the device were captured by Chosun and @UniverseIce. The device was only shown in two states – fully open and tightly closed. It doesn’t look like the Galaxy TriFold was shown in a 50% folded state, nor did it appear to be manipulated in person.

The foldable looks incredibly thin. At least as thin as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It isn’t so surprsing, since Samsung has been able to shrink the Galaxy Z Fold 7 so much so that it rivals slab-style devices.

According to a statement made to SamMobile, Samsung still believes it can release the Galaxy TriFold this year.

Samsung continues to advance innovative technologies, including next-generation form factors in the era of mobile AI, to deliver meaningful user experiences. The recent showcase reflects ongoing R&D efforts, and we plan to bring this next generation device to users within this year.

Details have been entirely unclear regarding when the device would launch. It’s also a mystery whether Samsung will bring the device to North America, considering it’s a niche product at a high price. There may be some potential, as Galaxy Z Fold 7 sales have been nothing short of incredible. The three-panel phone will likely see a debut in South Korea and China first.

According to this new information, Samsung is still planning to launch the Galaxy TriFold sometime within the next two months.
