Samsung’s Audio Eraser now works with YouTube and more
Starting on Google Pixel and extending to Samsung Galaxy with last year’s Galaxy S25 series, “Audio Eraser” features have proven pretty handy for recording videos. Starting with the Galaxy S26, Samsung is expanding Audio Eraser beyond recording, and applying it in real-time to videos from YouTube and other apps on your smartphone.
Available as a part of One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S26 series, Audio Eraser can be enabled for audio playing on your device. It’s pretty straightforward, with the ability to toggle the feature on or off when supported apps are playing, the ability to adjust the strength of the effect, and a “Voice Focus” toggle.
Samsung says that Audio Eraser on the Galaxy S26 can apply to YouTube, Instagram, Netflix, and other apps, with TikTok having also been mentioned by name. There’s no specific list mentioned in the Settings on Galaxy S26 devices we tried.
In action, though, Audio Eraser works really well on YouTube.
During our demo, a hockey video was playing on YouTube with Audio Eraser turned on and the commentators heard pretty clearly throughout the video. When turning off Audio Eraser, though, the roar of the crowd that would have otherwise been heard comes through clearly. It’d be impressive enough to see this work on a recording, but it’s all the more so given this is happening in real-time on the device.
Of course, as is always the case with this feature, the audio tends to take on a bit of a weird sound as artifacts of the removed audio find their way through, but it’s still very well done. Where it might be useful, though, is the bigger question.
The Galaxy S26 series is available for pre-order now, with Samsung’s usual pre-order perks in full swing. You’ll find boosted trade-in values and more available now through March 11, when these phones are available on store shelves.
