Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Might Have an Even More Ridiculous Camera Zoom
The release of the next-gen Galaxy S26 is likely just around the corner, and Samsung is starting to drop some major hints about what we can expect. Among the recent clues are hints of camera upgrades, including one teaser that foreshadows improvements to one of the Galaxy phone’s most impressive features: zoom.
In this official teaser from Samsung, the company seems to tease an enhanced zoom capability that shows someone narrowing in from very far away on a dog wearing sunglasses inside a car. In case you had any doubt that it’s zoom that Samsung is showcasing here, there’s text that says “closer” on the screen.

For context, the current-gen Galaxy S25 Ultra already has up to 10x optical zoom, or up to 100x digitally enhanced zoom through the company’s Space Zoom feature. It’s industry-leading and impressive to say the least, but apparently we ain’t seen nothin’ yet. It’s hard to say which end of the zoom equation the Galaxy S26 will improve on, optical or digital, but if I had to guess, it’d be the latter. Get ready for an AI-enhanced zoom, I guess?
It’s not just zoom that Samsung is teasing, though. In a separate short teaser video (or two, actually), the company also suggests that the S26 will have an enhanced night mode for videos and maybe photos. There’s not much to unpack here, but both videos show a scene going from dark to much lighter with words like “glow” and “groove” superimposed on the scenario. Again, this is already another strong suit of Galaxy phones, which have long had night-specific features for photos, including one geared toward astrophotography. Even if Galaxy phones already has great night photography, it’s nice to see Samsung is still potentially moving that ball forward.
There’s not much else we know officially through Samsung yet, but recent leaks from Evan Blass have suggested that the date of Samsung’s Galaxy S26 release may be rapidly approaching. According to a post on X from Blass late last month, Feb. 25 is the planned launch date for Samsung’s new generation of Galaxy phones. With that release, we’ll also likely get the Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro, Samsung’s new generation of wireless earbuds.
While the zoom and night mode look nice, I wouldn’t expect anything huge on the design side of things. Leaked images from OnLeaks via Android Headlines suggest that the new Samsung Galaxy 26 Ultra will look a lot like the old Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra, but I guess that’s good news for anyone who already likes current look. Groundbreaking upgrade or not, it looks like we’re zooming towards some answers soon, so we’ll likely see you later this month for more official updates on what the Galaxy S26 has in store.
