Source Close to Duggar Family Shares Alleged Reason Kendra Duggar Was Arrested
More details have emerged on the alleged reason for Kendra Duggar‘s arrest.
On Friday, Mar. 20, police in Tontitown, Arkansas confirmed via a press release that they’ve filed charges against Kendra, 27, and her husband Joseph Duggar, 31.
The couple are each facing four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, as well as four counts of second-degree false imprisonment.
The charges potentially carry an eight-year prison sentence.
On Monday, Mar. 23, a source close to the Duggar family revealed the alleged reason why Kendra is being charged to People.
“I can tell you the arrest was a result of a home inspection, and the door locks being on the exterior of the doors,” the source said.
A source close to the investigation also told the publication that locks were specifically found on the “doors of rooms where the children would be.”
A spokesperson for the family declined to comment on the reason for Kendra’s arrest, however, they did tell the outlet that the charges against her are “totally unrelated” to the child molestation charges her husband is facing in Florida.
“She’s not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime,” the spokesperson said to People.
Authorities arrived at the Duggar family compound around 1 p.m. on Mar. 20 to serve an arrest warrant for Kendra, however, she was not at home at the time, per local outlet KNWA/FOX24.
According to the sheriff’s office, Kendra later was arrested and booked into the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Ark., at 4:56 p.m. local time. She was released after paying her bond, which was set at $1,470, and spent less than two hours in jail.
Kendra’s booking shows she has a court date related to the charges on April 29. Joseph is scheduled to appear in court on that date as well.

Joseph was previously arrested and charged for Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor on Wednesday, Mar. 18.
The new child endangerment charges in Arkansas are unrelated to the previous charges, which were filed in Florida.
Joseph and Kendra have yet to comment publicly on any of the allegations.
