Late on Easter Sunday, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and almost–Bachelorette Taylor Frankie Paul shared that she plans on leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormon church. “Born and raised Mormon (LDS) and I’ll always have love and respect towards it,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ll even continue to go with my family at times, with that being said, it’s time to detach myself from it.”
She said she still considers herself to be a Christian but has “experienced grace and love from amazing people that aren’t sure what they believe if at all.” Earlier in the day, Paul explained that the “last 40 days felt like hell on earth,” referring to the drama surrounding her season of The Bachelorette being canceled at the last minute after a video of her throwing a stool at her ex, Dakota Mortensen, was leaked to TMZ. Mortensen filed a protective order against her that same day. Both Mortensen and Paul are under investigation for domestic abuse for an altercation that happened on February 23 and 24.
While not all of the women on the show are practicing LDS members, they’ve all been active in the church at some point in their lives. It’s unclear whether Paul will return to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, as filming for season five is still paused.
