Team news: Havertz starts against Everton | Team news | News
Mikel Arteta has decided to make three changes to his team for this evening’s Premier League game against Everton, with midweek goalscorer Kai Havertz handed a start.
Havertz netted from the penalty spot against his former club Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night to secure a 1-1 draw in the first leg of our Champions League round of 16 tie, and he has been handed his first Premier League start since the 3-0 win against Sunderland on February 7.
Mikel has also opted to reward Noni Madueke with a chance to impress from the start after he won the spot-kick in Germany after coming off the bench, with Gabriel Martinelli named as a sub, while Riccardo Calafiori is preferred to Piero Hincapie at left-back.
Everton boss David Moyes meanwhile has made two changes from their 2-0 win against Burnley 11 days ago, with both of his centre-back from that win unavailable.
James Tarkowski and Jarrod Branthwaite have dropped out of the matchday squad, with Jake O’Brien moving into centre-back from right-back, and Michael Keane promoted from the bench.
James Garner fills in O’Brien’s spot, while Tim Iroegbunam comes into central midfield.
The rest of a well-rested squad are aiming to win a third-straight away game in the league for the first time since December 2023, while they have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League games on their travels, stretching back to December.
