The base-stealing eureka moment that sold Yankees on Carlos Lagrange
TAMPA — Carlos Lagrange had solidified himself in the Yankees’ minor league system by the time he was promoted to Double-A Somerset last June.
The 6-foot-7 right-hander made an impression on Aaron Boone and pitching coach Matt Blake during that spring with his triple-digit fastball and ability to throw strikes.
But he also allowed three stolen bases in his final start at High-A Hudson Valley and then four more in his debut with Somerset on June 6.
