Djorden Santos defeats Danny Barlow by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Djorden Santos and Danny Barlow engaged in a wildly entertaining back-and-forth battle in the middle of Saturday’s preliminary card at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
The former welterweight Barlow had a speed advantage early and clearly landed the better shots in the first half of the fight, stinging Santos and feeling close to a finish a in the second. But the Brazilian got his footing and returned fire as Barlow tired, resulting in a close middle stanza before Santos turned a slip into an opportunity to control his foe on the ground and in the clinch for the majority of the final round.
The judges were called upon to render a verdict for the first time all evening, and when the scorecards were collected and tallied, it was Santos that came out on the happy side of the verdict. After dropping his promotional debut at UFC 313, Santos becomes the latest member of the Dana Whtie’s Contender Series Class of ’24 to garner a victory inside the Octagon.
