Warren Williams, rock legend, dead at 85 after long illness
Warren Williams, an Australian rock legend, has died at the age of 85 after battling an illness.
“Yesterday (Nov. 29) was a very sad day with the loss of my father Warren Williams,” the singer’s son, Warren Williams Jr., posted on Facebook. “A most humble, kind and quiet man who taught me so much about being a good human. One of the greatest singers and performers of his time. The memories of growing up by his side will always be there. RIP Dad, we will all miss you.”
Williams hit it big when he was invited to be on the ABC music variety show “Six O’Clock Rock” in the 1960s.
The Sydney native was credited with being one of his country’s first rock singers.
His hits included “A Star Fell from Heaven” and “Girls Were Made to Love and Kiss,” both top 10 hits.
