‘What Else Don’t We Know?’

More people are speaking out after the arrests of Joseph and Kendra Duggar, and a new report revealed that neighbors are wondering if there’s more the Duggar family is hiding.

“I thought it was neat to have that many kids. I enjoyed watching all the shows,” local David Pfahler told People in an article published on Wednesday, April 1.

However, with the allegations that Joseph, 31, sexually abused a 9-year-old girl, Pfahler began to question things. “I’m thinking: What else don’t we know about the Duggars?”

One of Joseph and Kendra’s neighbors in Tontitown, Arkansas, said that he “seemed like a nice guy.”

“His kids are always up and down the sidewalks … playing like normal,” the neighbor added.

Amy Duggar King, a cousin of Joseph who made occasional appearances on 19 Kids and Counting, told the publication that she “was sickened but not surprised” to hear about the accusations against the third oldest Duggar son.

“This reflects a deeper systemic issue,” she continued. “When they grow up around environments where the power is unchecked, and men are elevated and not held accountable, and silence is encouraged and rewarded, it creates the perfect conditions for abuse to happen and to continue.”

Joseph was arrested on March 18 and was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior (molestation of a victim less than 12 years old) and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.

“The 14-year-old victim participated in a forensic interview, where she disclosed several incidents involving Duggar that occurred during a family vacation in Panama City Beach when she was 9-years-old,” a message from the Bay County Sheriff Office read via Facebook.

“The victim reported Duggar repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap. As the vacation continued, he also asked her to sit next to him on a couch and covered them with a blanket,” the post continued. “During this time, Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs.”

The following day, Kendra, 27, was arrested after authorities searched the couple’s home. They were both charged with four counts of child endangerment and false imprisonment.

Neither Kendra nor Joseph have entered pleas regarding their Arkansas charges. However, Joseph pleaded not guilty in the sexual assault case in Florida.
