Winter Olympics 2026 Day 8 results: Jordan Stolz takes gold again, USA Hockey tops Denmark
Day 8 at the 2026 Winter Olympics concluded with a resilient win for the U.S. men’s hockey team. After trailing Denmark 2-1 at the end of the first period, the Americans scored three goals in the second to pull away for a 6-3 win.
Brady Tkachuk evened the score at 2-2 early in the second, and Jack Eichel buried the go-ahead goal soon after as part of a two-point night that helped swing the momentum for good. Team USA has a quick turnaround with the final preliminary round game against Germany on Sunday at 3:10 p.m. ET.
On the oval, Jordan Stolz continued to build what is quickly becoming one of the defining performances of these Games. The 21-year-old captured his second gold medal in Milan, winning the men’s 500m in a blistering 33.77 seconds. Stolz and Dutch rival Jenning de Boo both broke the 34-second mark — a first in Olympic history — but Stolz bested him by just over a tenth of a second to take the top spot on the podium.
After already claiming gold in the 1000m, Stolz remains on track in his pursuit of four medals, with the 1500m and mass start still ahead.
Team USA also made history in the Olympic debut of women’s dual moguls. Jaelin Kauf secured silver, adding to her growing medal collection in Milan and further cementing her place as the most decorated mogul skier in U.S. history. Elizabeth Lemley followed with bronze, giving the Americans two spots on the podium in the event’s first appearance at the Games. Lemley now leaves Day 8 with two medals in Milan after previously striking gold in moguls.
American curling rounded out a strong day across the board. The U.S. women improved to 3-1 in round-robin play with a 7-4 win over Japan, while the men earned an 8-6 victory over Germany behind a pivotal four-point first end. Both teams continue to position themselves well as the playoff picture begins to take shape.
Here’s a look back at everything Team USA accomplished on Saturday, with all the key results and highlights from another day of competition.
