‘Yellowstone’ Fans All Have the Same Gripe about the ‘Marshals’ Spinoff
‘Marshals’ premiered on March 1 on CBS.
The new ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff stars fan-favorite character, Kayce Dutton.
Some viewers were frustrated that the show wasn’t immediately available to stream on Paramount+.
Luke Grimes is back as Kayce Dutton on Marshals, but, after just one episode, fans of the Yellowstone universe are upset. The reason is not with the plotline or casting—they didn’t even get that far. Rather, the common complaint is about how to watch the new show.
Yellowstone ended in 2024, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the much-lauded spinoffs. A series with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler is in the works, but up first is the Kayce Dutton-led drama, Marshals. The storyline picks up after the fan-favorite character has left the Yellowstone Ranch and joins his friend from the Navy SEALs to work with the U.S. Marshals.
In the past, there has been confusion about how to watch Yellowstone, which aired on Paramount Network, and all of the prequels, including 1923 and 1884, which were exclusive to streaming service Paramount+. To add to the confusion, Peacock holds the streaming rights to Yellowstone. But Marshals throws a different wrench into the mix. The problem? The new show airs on CBS.
Marshals is the first show from the Taylor Sheridan universe to air on network television, with the exception of Yellowstone (the first three seasons were shown on CBS in edited form after they aired on Paramount Network). And loyalists are upset that the new spinoff was not available to stream at the same time on Paramount+.
The show’s official Instagram account posted a clip after the show aired, and fans took the opportunity to bombard the comments section with complaints:
-
“I’m not sure why we can’t stream it on @paramountplus if we have premium ???”
-
“I am so angry right now. I have access to all the Tyler Sheridan shows and pay for premium subscriptions and have no access to tonight’s new show. Very disappointed and rethinking subscriptions.”
-
“Paid for the premium paramount plus subscription just to watch the show tonight and all it said was “watch trailer” so I’m disappointed some of us didn’t get to watch it”
-
“Done have premium. Am I able to watch until the next day?? So disappointing”
The first episode is available to watch now on Paramount+. In the future, viewers should keep in mind that they might have to wait until Monday to watch the new series.
