You are being misled about renewable energy technology.

This video by Technology Connections is perhaps one of the more succinct comparisons between fossil fuels based energy production and clean renewables.  Yes, it’s a 90 minute video. But I actually watched it the whole way though, which is rare for me.  LOTS of good material that hardly ever sees the light of day.  And if you get to the very end, there’s a fantastic rant about today’s political landscape.

The best highlight for me was the case that fossil fuels are “single use” sources of energy.  You burn it once, and that’s it, until you dig up some more.  Whereas the fuel for solar/wind/geothermal is free, and the batteries that store it can last for decades, after which they are recycled.  All the important elements that make up the battery can be recycled into new batteries forever.
