Apple Is Dominating Smartphone Rivals To The Point Where It’s Not Bothered To Change The iPhone 18 Appearance By Much
Android smartphone makers are currently embroiled in maintaining their margins while contemplating which features will be removed from future devices because of the DRAM crisis. Looking at the success of the iPhone 17, it appears that, irrespective of the component shortage, Apple is destined to win by a mile when it announces its iPhone 18 series, which is probably why a tipster mentions that the upcoming flagship series will largely remain unchanged from the current models.
The iPhone 18 lineup is only expected to increase in ‘size’, and going by previous rumors, Apple will increase the thickness to accommodate a bigger battery
With the iPhone 18 and iPhone Fold rumored to enter mass production in July, Apple would have likely decided the specifications and dimensions of each handset. While the design and appearance have some weight in deciding a buyer’s purchasing decision, the internals matter slightly more. It appears that Apple is focused on the latter. According to Weibo tipster Fixed-focus digital cameras, the iPhone 18’s appearance will largely remain unchanged, except for the size.
Now, the rumor doesn’t clarify what size consumers should expect for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but based on previous reports, the physical change will be related to thickness. The Cupertino firm’s top-end model is said to be thicker and heavier than any of its predecessors, hinting at a major battery upgrade. We’ve discussed these capacities in a previous rumor, but if you have forgotten, the details are below:
- iPhone 17 Pro Max – 4,823mAh (non-eSIM version), 5,088mAh (eSIM version)
- iPhone 18 Pro Max non-eSIM version – 5,000mAh+ (3.67 percent bigger than non-eSIM iPhone 17 Pro Max)
- iPhone 18 Pro Max eSIM version – 5,100mAh-5,200mAh+ (up to 2.20 percent bigger than eSIM iPhone 17 Pro Max)
In addition to the battery increase, Apple is reported to introduce its C2 5G modem to these flagships, and with the A20 and A20 Pro pairing, both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could deliver legendary runtimes. As for pricing, the rumor doesn’t provide any specifics regarding these figures, but TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo commented that Apple has sufficient financial wiggle room to absorb the DRAM price increases thanks to its growing Services revenue.
In short, Apple will likely experience another excellent quarter when the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launch later this year, while competitors will be left hunting for breadcrumbs.
