Candace Cameron Bure Reveals What ‘Weirds’ Her Out About Sex… And It’s A Doozy
Candace Cameron Bure doesn’t want God to be all-seeing all the time.
The “Full House” alum admitted on her podcast Tuesday that there’s one thing about sex that really “weirds” her out. The moment occurred 27 minutes into the episode, as Bure’s guest, Bachelor Nation’s Madi Prewett, was attempting to unpack her complicated feelings about enjoying sex as a Christian who was raised within “purity culture.”

“A visual of God watching me having sex weirds me out,” Bure blurted out to Prewett.
“It totally just depends on your upbringing and what your past experiences have been or the things that you were taught as a kid, Bure later added. “I’m almost 50 and some of those adolescent thoughts never quite leave your mind or those high school teenage thoughts never quite leave your mind.”
Prewett told Bure she was “so real” for bringing up the image of God watching her in the act.
“I think what I felt, I’m like, ‘Lord, help me to invite you into this and not feel like this is a weird or shameful thing for you because you created it,’” the “Bachelor” runner-up added. “You created it to feel good, you know, you put the nerve endings where they are, the feelings where [they are] like, you, you did that. And so I’m just going to invite you into this and pray that you bless it. Pray that it honors you, pray that it serves and respects my husband. It’s an interesting thing.”
Earlier in the episode, Bure admitted that her experience with purity culture made her transition from virgin to married woman feel pretty jarring.
“It’s like, ‘OK, now you’re married, go for it,’” Bure said of being able to engage in something that she was told her whole life was a sin.

“And it was a little… I don’t want to quite use the word shameful, but there were parts of it that felt shameful because I went from not being a sexual person to [people] saying, like, ‘Now you can do whatever you want.’ And so it felt weird. There wasn’t a good bridge there,” she said.
Although it’s easy to understand Bure’s complicated feelings surrounding sex, considering her Christian upbringing, her political stances could lead some to view her with a lot less empathy.
In 2022, she received backlash after parting ways with the Hallmark Channel ― her professional home of more than a decade ― to join the more conservative network Great American Family. She told the Wall Street Journal she did so because she wanted to act in movies about “traditional marriage.”
About a year later, Bure found herself in hot water with the LGBTQ+ community again after actor Miss Benny, who is transgender, claimed Bure had tried to get her fired from “Fuller House” because she objected to having a queer character on the series.
Bure later issued a statement to People, saying: “I thought Miss Benny did a great job as ‘Casey’ on the show. We didn’t share any scenes together, so we didn’t get a chance to talk much while filming on set. I wish Miss Benny only the best.”
