Elliot Cadeau ‘fine’ after being removed from team bus, evaluated
Several people at today’s Michigan basketball send-off saw a U-M player thought to be Elliot Cadeau removed from the bus and taken to an ambulance. We confirmed it was the junior point guard, one of the standouts on this year’s team, but good news followed quickly.
The Michigan basketball team boarded the bus on its travels to Indianapolis for the Final Four, and Cadeau was smiling and waving to the crowd in attendance to see them off. However, he was spotted on a gurney and taken away by ambulance, per reports.
“Before the team departed the Player Development Center today, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate,” a Michigan spokesman confirmed to TheWolverine.com in a statement. “The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today.”
Cadeau has had an outstanding year, a third-team All-Big Ten selection after transferring from North Carolina. He has been one of the best point guards in the conference, averaging 5.7 assists and shooting 37 percent from three-point range. He’s averaging 11 points per game in the NCAA Tournament along with 7.9 assists and put up 17 points, seven assists, and three triples in his best game, a win over Alabama in the Sweet 16 Friday night.
The junior has already committed to another season under May at Michigan, he told TheWolverine.com after the win over the Crimson Tide, another huge win for Dusty May‘s program.
“Yeah, for sure,” Cadeau said, adding he “definitely” has let the coach know he’ll be back next year, adding his development is a big reason why. “I feel like I have different aspects to my game now, just being able to be a threat from the three-point line, being able to be more of a threat scoring just because I have freedom to do it.”
He’s also a “100 percent” more confident player as a result … and, thankfully, healthy and good to go when the Wolverines take on Arizona Saturday night in the Final Four.
